Violation of whistleblower act

December 2024

Board-certified radiologist Brent Bullis was a senior shareholder and employee of Consulting Radiologists, Ltd. (CRL) for 18 years. He raised patient safety concerns to the company’s leadership, warning of unethical practices, including the alleged scheduling of unneeded tests and sexual harassment of a co-worker. The board of CRL met but failed to act, and Bullis was later terminated. His termination also led to the loss of his position as chief-of-staff-elect at a hospital.

He sued CRL, alleging violation of the Minnesota Whistleblower Act. The plaintiff claimed over $937,600 in past lost income.

The jury awarded approximately $4.6 million.

Citation: Bullis v. Consulting Radiologists, Ltd., No. 27-CV-22-9146 (Minn. Dist. Ct. Hennepin Cnty. Jan. 19, 2024).

Plaintiff counsel: Pamela Johnson, Michael Johnson, Brent Benrud, and Pamela Spera, all of Minneapolis.
