Understaffing

July/August 2024

Dimitra Christodoulakis, who suffered from dementia, heart failure, hypertension, and impaired mobility, was admitted to Crestview Center. While there, she suffered multiple falls, resulting in bilateral hip fractures and acute blood loss. She also developed a sacral pressure ulcer and had poor hygiene. She later died.

Her estate sued 262 Toll Gate Road Operations, LLC, which did business as Crestview Center, alleging claims for wrongful death and survival. The plaintiff asserted that the facility was understaffed and mismanaged and that it failed to provide appropriate treatment.

The parties settled for $250,000.
