Washington, DC—The following is a statement from American Association for Justice (AAJ) President Kathleen Nastri in response to the announced retirement of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy:

“For 30 years, Justice Kennedy has served with distinction on our nation’s highest court, and his retirement marks a historic moment for America. Our next Supreme Court Justice will, for decades to come, help shape the trajectory of our country.

“The American Association for Justice is committed to defending the rights of patients, consumers, workers and all Americans who have been harmed by wrongdoing. We urge our nation’s leaders to be on the side of access to justice, to respect legal precedent, and to uphold the constitutional right to trial by jury.”
