Carla D. Aikens has a unique background in that most plaintiffs lawyers have either always been plaintiffs lawyers or formerly did insurance defense work, while Ms. Aikens has an in depth business background alongside experiences working for a Federal Court judge which have provided her with a unique knowledge of the court’s inner workings and how court decisions are made. This knowledge and experience makes her particularly well-suited to help plaintiffs achieve the most favorable outcome possible in their personal injury and business litigation cases, and also informs and supplements her ability to negotiate beneficial business deals in transactional work along with Mergers and Acquisitions. Ms. Aikens attended The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where she began developing her business knowledge through a concentration in management and marketing. As a college tennis player, she honed her discipline, ability to work through adversity, and dedication to achieving goals. She received her Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was a national quarterfinalist in the Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition. While at Georgetown, Ms. Aikens also founded a mentoring program for and taught a law class to DC.-area high schoolers. Ms. Aikens is the founder of Carla D. Aikens, P.C. in Detroit, Michigan.

Peter C. Grenier has a broad array of expertise, and is regularly called upon by clients from all over the country for legal help. Mr. Grenier has also been included among the “Best Lawyers in America” and listed among the top personal injury attorneys in the Washington Post Sunday Magazine. Mr. Grenier has served as a faculty member for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, speaks and publishes regularly in the area of personal injury and civil rights law, and has frequently been called upon to serve as an expert witness in various areas of the law. He also regularly teaches Continuing Legal Education courses. He was a featured speaker at the NAACP’s annual national convention, addressing the topic of police brutality. He has also spoken at the National Crime Victim Bar Association. Mr. Grenier is the founder of Grenier Law Group in Washington, D.C.
Kate Harvey-Lee is a senior trial lawyer at J&Y Law and focuses her practice on complex litigation, with an emphasis on commercial transportation, wrongful death, and traumatic brain injury cases. She has been recognized as a Super Lawyer Rising star since 2005 and as a Super Lawyer every year since 2014, and she has been selected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® every year since 2013. She has also been named to the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers list and the Nation’s Top One Percent of the National Association of Distinguished Counsel. Ms. Harvey-Lee is board certified in Truck Accident Litigation through the National Board of Trial Advocacy.* She is the immediate past chair of the Bus Litigation Group for the American Association of Justice and a member of the American Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys. When she is not in the courtroom, she is a frequent speaker at seminars and writes articles featured in various legal publications on issues related to handling complex personal injury litigation and is a fierce advocate for safety issues. She also is called upon to make frequent appearances on radio and television to discuss safety issues during news coverage of commercial transportation accidents.
