Zostavax

Zostavax is a shingles vaccine that falls outside of the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. In other words, lawsuits may be brought for product liability against the manufacturer, Merck. There are currently dozens of lawsuits filed in state courts as well as federal district courts. Recently, Merck has filed a motion to establish an MDL. Currently, only a handful of firms have been working together to further this litigation, but it is anticipated that a significant number of additional firms will join the fight with news of the MDL. The goals are to educate those considering representing plaintiffs injured by Zostavax, to coordinate efforts that are being made across the nation, and to discuss issues that may arise during the litigation.

The Group holds meetings and educational programs at AAJ conventions. Group members network throughout the year, sharing resources such as information regarding expert witness testimony and medical literature reviews. The Group has a document library and a list server.

• Meetings: The Group meets at AAJ Annual and Winter conventions.
• Membership: The group is limited to Regular, Life, Sustaining, and President's Club members.
