Failure to adequately support ambulating rehab patient
September/October 2024Bonnie Bertini was admitted to Christ’s Home for a short-term rehabilitation stay. Over the course of four months, she suffered multiple falls. On one occasion, she fell while being assisted to the bathroom and suffered a fractured femur. She underwent surgery and remained in pain until her death four months later from unrelated causes.
Bertini’s estate sued Christ’s Home, alleging the defendant failed to provide Bertini with full attention and support while ambulating.
The parties settled for $150,000.
