Failure to transfer to hospital
August 29, 2023Karen Varaitis, 60, was a patient at Manor Care Health Services Oxford Valley. While at the facility, she suffered from acute hypoxia and hypotension. She died two days later and is survived by her husband.
Varaitis’s husband, on behalf of her estate, sued the facility, alleging claims for wrongful death and survival. The plaintiff asserted that the defendant had failed to appropriately monitor Varaitis and transfer her to a hospital.
The parties settled for $150,000.
