Washington, DC — The American Association for Justice (AAJ,) in conjunction with its Trial Lawyers Care (TLC) initiative, is highlighting and encouraging community service this spring as a way to commemorate Law Day. AAJ staff and trial attorneys across the country will serve their communities through volunteer and charitable activities that benefit the public and help people in need.

Congress established Law Day on May 1, 1961, as a day for people to celebrate and appreciate their constitutional rights, as well as rededicate and aspire to the ideals of equality and justice under law. It’s a time for trial attorneys to reflect on their work to ensure that even the most vulnerable in society have a voice and a fair chance at seeking justice and accountability.

“Law Day symbolizes the assurance of justice and equality under the law for everyone in the United States. It’s an annual reminder to rededicate ourselves to preserving and promoting access to justice, and an opportunity for us to give back to our communities,” said AAJ President Larry A. Tawwater.
