What subjects does the Law Reporter cover?

When will my case be published?

The information you provide helps the editors determine whether the case meets the subject matter and timeliness criteria for our publications. Although we never promise publication, we always share the information you provide with AAJ's litigation support department, the Exchange. We work several months in advance of the printer dates for each issue. However, we try to keep our content recent. Please see below for more information on how recent a case must be for publication.

Please note that the Law Reporter is published every month except for January and July; the Professional Negligence Law Reporter (PNLR) is published every month except for January and August; and the Products Liability Law Reporter (PLLR) is published every month except for January and September.

How recent must the case be to get published?

We publish reports on court opinions within six months of the decision date when the case is printed. We publish verdicts and settlements within one year of the resolution when the case is printed. Cases that are too old to publish as a main case may be mentioned briefly in a "Comment" to the main write-up on a similar case.

Do you only report cases with a verdict or settlement over a certain amount?

Because of the high volume of motor vehicle collision and workplace safety cases submitted, we have a minimum recovery threshold of $1 million for a verdict or settlement. Medical negligence cases have a minimum recovery threshold of $500,000. Those are the only subjects that have minimum thresholds. Again, should your case not meet our editorial needs, we still share the information that you provide with the Exchange.

What kinds of court documents would you like me to send?

Please send any documents that you believe will be helpful to another AAJ member trying a similar case or dealing with similar issues.

How to submit a manuscript

All published articles must conform to manuscript guidelines. For more information, see Products Liability Law Reporter Insight and Professional Negligence Law Reporter Outlook manuscript guidelines. Manuscripts should be sent to Pete Quinn via e-mail: law.reporter@justice.org, fax: (202) 965-0030, or mail:
