Case in Point

Court orders companies to fund removal of lead-based paint from California homes

The court cited evidence that the companies had actual and constructive knowledge that their products were harmful and that they promoted lead-based paint even when non-leaded paints were available. The defendants were ordered to pay $1.1 billion into a state-run abatement fund. Cal. v. Atl. Richfield Co.
