The plaintiffs alleged that the truck driver was speeding and lost control of the vehicle. They also contended that he failed to follow the directions on his delivery ticket, which specified that he travel on certain flat, two-lane roads, rather than the winding, narrow mountain road where the crash occurred. The verdict, with interest, totaled more than $12 million. Lester v. Allied Concrete Co.
