Emergency room staff fails to spot patient's heart attack symptoms

The patient’s estate and family alleged that the ER doctor and hospital nurses failed to timely diagnose and treat an impending heart attack. The plaintiffs claimed the nurses failed to follow protocol by neglecting to test the patient’s cardiac enzymes, perform heart monitoring, and timely notify the physician of her chest pain. The jury awarded about $1.32 million. Licatino v. Christus Health S.E. Tex.
