Case in Point

Police officer responding to call runs red light, striking and killing motorist

The woman’s estate sued the police officer, alleging she was driving recklessly and failed to follow police emergency-response procedures requiring her to use lights and a siren and to slow and stop for a red light. The parties settled for $1.5 million. McIntosh v. Perry.
