Washington, DC –The American Association for Justice (AAJ) today announced the addition of Amaya Smith as Press Secretary. Amaya will play a key role in AAJ’s effort to educate the media and public on the increasingly important role of our nation’s civil justice system in the face of new corporate attacks on Americans’ rights. Amaya will work to amplify the organization’s message to diverse media outlets and work with key reporters to highlight issues related to civil justice.
Amaya brings over seven years of political communications experience to the position. Previously she served as South Carolina Press Secretary for the Obama Presidential campaign. Prior to that, Amaya served as a Regional Press Secretary for the Democratic National Committee where she coordinated with the local state parties to amplify Democratic message. Amaya has a BS in political science from American University.
“Amaya brings a wealth of experience to AAJ,” said AAJ Vice President of Strategic Communications Cecelia Prewett. “AAJ is building a proactive communications team to amplify critical issues of civil justice. Amaya will be an integral part of our campaign to increase awareness of threats to our civil justice system, and we are excited to have her.”
